Cip Festival opens its gates on Thursday July 1st

All the events of the festival will be held at Grand Arsenali

Photo Marathon 2021

The Cip Festival Marathon will take place as part of the 4th Chania International Photo Festival. Participants, Greeks and foreigners, will show how they see Chania through three photographic subjects, presenting their own perception of the city

Marathon Information:

This year, because of the special conditions we face because of the pandemic, the marathon will last for three days, from Thursday July 1 until Saturday July 3.
All participants should have their digital camera with them

The Marathon starts on Thursday July 1 at 18:00 the moment the 4th Cip Festival opens its gates.
All participants will receive their membership card and all the necessary information from Grand Arsenal (KAM).
The end of the Marathon will be on Saturday July 3 at midnight.
The participants should send 3 photos they have selected via email. The photos gathered will be evaluated by the committee in order for the winners of the Marathon to be selected. There will be three prizes and three honorable mentions


Friday 2 July

Workshop (Night Photography)
Time: 18:30
Participation is free of charge and those interested can register by sending an email at

Mr Alexander Voutsas,
faculty member, Athens School of Fine Arts, photography, will talk about night photography and then there will be a workshop on it. Night shooting will follow from dusk and into the night.
Please have in mind to have with you:
1. A tripod
2. A flashlight
3. String and/or thin rope
4. Use of dark/black clothing
5. A sand bag or a 3-5 kg. bag to use for tripod steadiness.
6. A hand held light meter if you have/own one.


Saturday 4 July

Workshop (Night Photography)
Time: 20:30 – 22:00

Mr Alexander Voutsas
will comment on the night photographs which were taken during the workshop of July 2nd and there will be a discussion on them


Monday 5 July

Workshop (Street Photography)
Time: 20:30
Participation is free of charge and those interested can register by sending an email at

Mr Nikos Apostolopoulos
Assistant Professor at the University of West Attica, Department of Photography and Visual Arts, will show an optical visual production, with works of his and his students, members of “Zeuxis Art Group”. Also he will give a lecture about Street Photography and Cityscape and will give you some tips on how to become successful on them. All your questions will be answered


Monday 5 July

Photo Marathon Results
Time: 21:00

Some photographs from the Photo Marathon will be presented at the Grand Arsenal (KAM), at the Old Port of Chania and the winners will be announced and receive their prizes
